A Century of
Service

American Legion Orange Post 132 was organized in 1919, the same year Congress chartered the American Legion to serve the veterans returning from World War I. Our post has been a cornerstone of the Orange community ever since.

In 1928, we made our home in a building with remarkable history — the former Orange Armory of the Army National Guard and the American Legion. This historic structure, located in the heart of the Old Towne Orange Historic District, features a grand hall with a raised stage, hardwood dance floor, and can accommodate up to 300 guests.

Today, Post 132 continues its mission with four active family organizations: the Legionnaires, Auxiliary Unit 132, Sons Squadron 132, and Riders Chapter 132. Together we serve veterans, support military families, and strengthen our community.

About the
American Legion

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress on September 16, 1919, as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members, and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary World War I veterans into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.

With nearly two million members in over 12,000 posts worldwide, the Legion advocates on behalf of veterans and the military, runs youth programs like Boys State and the American Legion Baseball program, and supports veterans' mental health through the "Be the One" suicide prevention initiative.
